Our dermatologist's opinion From the age of 40, men start to show the first signs of ageing skin. This is the result of age, of course, but mainly from exposure to the sun. The skin thickens, is less elastic and the complexion is less uniform with the appearance of discolorations, often brown-coloured patches, on the areas exposed to the sun (hands and face). Wrinkles appear in the forehead and furrows alongside the nose. Lines appear around the eyes. Bags under the eyes can appear too, mostly due to accumulation of fatty matter. Surgery can provide an effective remedy. Dark rings under the eyes reflect a permanent greyish pigmentation of the lower lid. This is often a family trait. Cosmetics can attenuate the rings. Medical treatments (peeling, laser) are often disappointing. Ageing of the skin must be prevented through protection from the sun: avoid exposure during peak hours (12 to 4 pm) and use anti UVB and UVA sun protection creams.
The advice of Didier Rase A very fine and sensitive skin needs very specific care to protect the blood vessels and encourage collagen synthesis for restructuring. No aggressive or over-greasy products that might make your eyelids swell.
